NAO pays tribute to two endangered species, the panda and the koala. The lovable animals are depicted in a warm family scene in two pieces where a love for nature is combined with the maternal bond between mother and child. The realism of the animals contrasts with the more abstract backdrop that frames them. In the case of the panda, as to be expected, the background represents bamboo canes, the plant that accounts for 99% of its diet. In the case of the koalas they are clinging to the branches of a leafy eucalyptus tree, also a key element in its diet and the natural habitat for this species.
Dissolved colors have been used in decorating these animals, with a special mention for the intense black color of the pandas, used for the first time in a NAO piece. Various different enamels were used for the decoration of the vegetation, lending them great liveliness and also helping to enhance the animals themselves.
