Lladro Thai Dancers Limited edition of 3,000 units
The various cultures of the world have inspired many Lladro pieces. Gres is particularly apt for capturing the exoticism of works like this, where the sculptor combines the wealth of textures with intense colors to bring us closer to the Far East.
These two women are performing a traditional Thai dance similar to those from the court of the royal monarch. With slow flowing movements they act out the story sung by a chorus. The gestures of their faces, emphasized by the make up, are also a highlight in this piece.
Another important feature in this couple is the meticulous work that has gone into reproducing the costumes, headdresses and bracelets worn by both characters. Thai traditional costumes are typically sumptuous and highly elaborate, especially for this kind of performance. They are usually made of very expensive fabrics and profusely decorated in colorful tones: red, blue, ochre. Lladro reproduces all the wealth of Thai culture with a detailed ornamentation and the most vibrant colors in its palette.
