The Lithophane depicts a bride dressed in traditional lehenga - a form of skirt which is long, embroidered and pleated. In North India a lot of embroidery work is done on a lehenga and is popular during the festivals and weddings. The groom wears a sherwani, a long coat-like garment with embroidery and lining. The couple also hold hands, a solemn symbol of their unity and the everlasting bond of marriage. The bride's hands have been adorned in mehndi -a paste that is made into designs, considered holy and prosperous. The Spirit of India 4.75 x 3.5 x 3.5"
