Herend Rothschild Bird Fish Platter - Discontinued
Herend, Rothschild Bird, Fish Platter
Created in the 1860s for the Baron de Rothschild family of Europe and considered by many connoisseurs to be the paragon of hand painting on porcelain. Painted in twelve different motifs, each representing a 19th century Hungarian legend about Baroness Rothschild, who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence. Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree.
