May Day, May Day

In some countries, May Day is the day of the annual Spring Festival. While reading about this date in history, I found that in parts of the United States, early European settlers once celebrated this day by making May Baskets. These small baskets were usually filled with flowers or treats and left at the recipient’s doorstep. The giver would then ring the bell & run away. The receiver of the basket would try to catch the fleeing giver. If the person was caught, the two shared a kiss. I can only imagine the anticipation of the event in the days before May Day. While many of us lack the time (and perhaps ability!) to create charming May Baskets for our family & friends, it made me think how special this month is. Spring has sprung, and the possibilities are endless. Many have started their gardens. It’s time to plan for the celebrations ahead.
Here at GiftCollector, we’ve added several new collections and many new products to our existing lines. Department 56’s Charming Tails continues to be a GiftCollector favorite. These adorable little mice & their friends are certain to add festive spring flair to your home. A wonderful starter piece is the charming Spring Has Arrived!  We also carry the popular Wilson Armetale Garden Art collection. These quality pieces will bring quality design to your table time after time. One can use them to cook on the stove, bake in the oven, and even on the grill. Cast of polished Armetale metal, these servers are as practical as they are beautiful. The Sunflower Tray is a favorite.
